Have you heard about JWST seeing galaxies that shouldn’t exist? There’s more to that story!

📚🔭 I'm about to be on Science Friday talking about the end of the Universe! The interview (which was recorded in 2020) airs in about 10 minutes, around 3:40pm Eastern. And my book is the SciFri Book Club pick for April! More info / listen here: https://www.sciencefriday.com/sf-books/the-end-of-everything/
Curious about quantum tunneling? Check out the latest episode of #Quantum101, from me and the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics: https://youtu.be/Yg0LT3n4mYY?si=qru2ItWY14ta8giC
If you’ve ever said,
“I’d like someone to explain quantum superposition to me, but in an airplane, between ATC calls and clearances,”
have I got a video for you!
The September edition of my newsletter, WATCH THIS SPACETIME, is out now! 🎉
Featuring: Aliens! Quantum superposition! Airplane physics! And more!

@aeva Good question! Main way is to use patterns of known absorption or emission lines. They’ll get shifted to longer wavelengths but will appear at the same places relative to each other in the spectrum
@jaztrophysicist@astrodon.social Thanks! And yeah, baryons are a hot mess 😂
