@AuntieAlias@mstdn.ca @erin@mstdn.ca With regards to the extremely delicate issue of racism being turned against BIPOC. Accusations of being all white and racist were leveled against the .social/.online mods due to the handling of 2 cases. How would heated rhetoric like that be handled? If unchecked it leads to a dogpile all day long. Does a general no-dogpile rule allow room for expressing discontent while limiting amplification/targeting help? Or should it be handled differently?

I think these that you mentioned are the best solution - not that there IS a solution. I just hate to see the anger and resentment build on the sidelines.

@AuntieAlias@mstdn.ca @erin@mstdn.ca In the case of Parker Molloy - earlier this week - she got suspended due to interactions with a reporter/commentator.
Her followers amplified their anger about this to such a degree that Parker came out with an extremely thoughtful statement to disarm her angry followers.
Our mods have to be able to take similar steps to diffuse in cases when there is nobody else stepping up to do so.

How do you deescalate and prevent amplification and dogpiling? It's essential for any marginalized group - and anybody really - to not throw unsubstantiated accusations in such a fashion as to raise a mob.
It isn't about the fragility aspect. It's about the rage fomenting.
How do mods assure - in this case BIPOC - that concerns are being addressed? And do it early to prevent misdirected rage? Can we learn from today?
