picking a mastodon server to join is easy -- just think of it like you're allying with one of many families in a war-torn medieval land, each with their own histories, feuds, laws, blood rituals

@kurt@social.thiskurt.me I think that's boxing? Like, in ye olden times, going "yeah, I'll fight your champion for three rounds to win a king's ransom of ₤5," you'd throw your literal hat into the boxing ring. Everyone would know it was you who volunteered, because you'd be the only bozo not wearing a hat.
made an account on an online service I've been using unregistered for more than a decade
my reward for this has been having to look at one of those DDoS protection check screens for ten seconds twenty times a day when previously I never saw those

@kurt@social.thiskurt.me With @B@beepboop.one also not here, I think I'm just gonna make it easy for us:
Too many of us are out, no #TARDISclub today.
See you all next week for either the newly recovered episodes of "Daleks' Master Plan" (if I can get my hands on them before the usually scheduled time) or both parts of "Black Orchid." :)

(This also means if I /don't/ have the two "Master Plan" episodes before #TARDISclub time next week, we can just watch them the week after "Black Orchid" instead of having to choose between "waiting two more weeks" and "interrupting "Earthshock"," so, you know.)
#MovieThread VII: The Kino Awakens, Chapter Four — April Edition
From 2020 to 2025 I watched 2370 movies.
In 2026 so far I've watched another 96, for a total of 2466 movies.
This month:
* Wrapping up John McTiernan.
* Ninja Turtles, definitely.

@purplemontart@beepboop.one unfortunately you've allied yourself with the House of the Town Lunatic
which does immunise you to most combat, but only because we're not worth wasting a cannonball on

@rand__althor@kind.social @kurt@social.thiskurt.me Seen people talk about this like it's the MCU-ification of "Lord of the Rings," which, I mean, kinda, but "an adaptation based entirely on a bit Peter Jackson skipped" feels /completely/ in line with things like "The Silmarillion" and those History of Middle-Earth books.
