Some thoughts on the quiet beauty of creating.

Black on White

An empty piece of paper. How comforting. No targets, no aspirations, no requirements, just a plain white canvas, and you alone decide what world will exist in a few minutes here.

I shared a few thoughts about music and everyday life in a recent conversation.

I also talked a bit about the influences behind my songs and how some of the pieces on the new album came into being.

Too Much

There seems to be an avalanche right now, a never-ending tide.
I wonder whether it’s only social media, an unhealthy awareness of a reality we’re not used to seeing every day. A desire for attention that ignites fire and fury. A fundamental emptiness. Are our eyes too wide open right now?

I just discovered these two guys. They talk about this totally incredible record ("What's Going On" by Marvin Gaye) with a mix of heartfelt admiration and deep musical insight.

If You're interested in how music that matters and lasts is created, with love and intention You HAVE TO watch this.

My question to all of you: How do you cope with these times? Do you follow closely what’s going on, or loosely, or not at all? Can we hide on a quiet island and hope to sit this out within our lifetime? Or do we have to watch closely, analyze, talk about it, and face reality, even when it hurts every single day?

A gift called „An Hour“.

For someone like me who’s not regularly travelling by train, it is still a little bit of an adventure. I remember my first conscious train trips as a kid, the wonder and excitement, being able to walk around while You’re travelling, the constant comforting and sullying noise that a train makes, the regular little bumps, the slight cracking of the chassis, the people murmuring around You.
