I’m 71% through my WGU degree, and for the first time I’ve genuinely questioned whether it’s worth finishing. Not because it’s difficult. Because I’m starting to feel like I’m wasting time and energy that could be spent actually contributing to the field. #WGU 1/6

I’ve been in IT and cybersecurity for 15 years. I’m a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer. I write Python for work, build automation, contribute to open source, and spend my free time making educational content. #WGU 2/6

I’m giving talks at cybersecurity conferences. People regularly tell me my videos, streams, and talks helped them break into IT or inspired them to build a homelab, learn Linux, or pursue cybersecurity. That’s honestly one of the things I’m most proud of. #WGU 3/6

So it’s incredibly frustrating when I spend more time trying to satisfy a grading rubric than actually solving technical problems. I’ve built Python applications far more complex than this coursework, yet somehow the class is more stressful. #WGU 4/6

That’s not because Python is hard. It’s because the assessments often feel disconnected from modern software engineering, Git workflows, and how code reviews actually happen in the industry. #WGU 5/6
