💁🏻‍♀️ TIL: Researchers in #Brazil reconstructed 3.3 million years of #tropical #vegetation #history and projected changes by 2050. They found that #climatechange could produce #ecosystem shifts within decades that took millions of years to unfold naturally. Species that evolved in stable tropical refuges, including much of the Malay #Archipelago, face the highest risk from this compression of change over time. 👉 https://theconversation.com/impact-of-climate-change-may-be-equivalent-to-3-3-million-years-of-transformations-in-tropical-vegetation-288073 #climate #amazon #biodiversity #deforestation #globalwarming #ecology #science #ufmg #machinelearning #conservation

The Quick Drought Response Index (QuickDRI) is intended to complement the Vegetation Drought Response Index (VegDRI at https://vegdri.unl.edu/) QuickDRI was designed to detect the effects of drought at time intervals of a month or less. QuickDRI shows driest conditions in parts of the Western U.S. and the wettest in the Deep South. #drought #QuickDRI #VegDRI #vegetation #FlashDroughthttps://quickdri.unl.edu/Home.aspx

Along the canal there were wild roses. It was on the off side, not the towpath side, in an stretch that nobody can reach on foot. Have boat, will flower. With the bow nosed in close, ot was possible to clip a small bouquet. These roses are in full blat but there are also some buds tucked in below. #CanalLife #canal #vegetation #plant #rose #flower #bloom #boating #narrowboat #boat

Where a weeping willow hung low over the canal, the only option was to slowly boat through the hanging curtain of leaves. Then: an enormous TWANGGGG. Something caught the solar panel brackets. Amidst the twigs and leaves was a hidden limb with a diameter of 5 inches (12½ centimeters). Out comes the electric chainsaw. That tree got a trim. #CanalLife #canal #willow #tree #vegetation #pruning #maintenance #boating #narrowboat #boat #solar #SolarPanel #CRT #CanalRiverTrust #CanalAndRiverTrust
