I heard something that really made me think on the Liberation Conversations podcast by @robinince@mastodon.social . Holly McNish said that war is paid for. People are employed to take part, people invest in it, and in the industry of war. No one gets paid to spread love. I think that is truly profound, especially when all wars aim at ending in peace. Why not just start with peace and invest in that? Is it that war and conflict us just too profitable fir the few? I will likely speak about this at my Quaker meeting tomorrow, as it frames reality so simply. Thank you Holly, and Robin too! #quakers #peacehttps://mastodon.social/@robinince/117326762989273478

What does solidarity look like in practice? In Fort Morgan, Colorado, neighbours are training to respond when ICE activity is reported in their community. They verify what is happening, make sure people know their rights, and help connect families with legal and practical support if someone is detained. There is something powerful in this kind of organised community care: people learning what they can do, then showing up for one another when it matters. Many people come to a Quaker meeting for the first time without knowing the words, habits, or rhythm of the room. That is okay. You can sit. You can listen. You can be unsure. You do not need to explain yourself or perform belief. Sometimes the first step is simply entering a quiet room and discovering that nothing is being demanded of you. Integrity is often spoken about as if it were a fixed personal quality. In daily life, it may be more like a practice. We notice when our words, choices, work, habits, and relationships begin to drift apart. Then we ask what needs to come back into alignment. For Quakers, integrity is closely connected with silence, attention, and conscience.
