Israel heading towards the vote: Haredi numbers are falling and far-right sentiment is rising. AGI - Less than a month before the October 27th elections in Israel, the stalemate continues with the blocking of the government coalition which has fallen to 49 seats against the opposition’s 55, both under the majority of the 61 seats needed to form a government. The Political Situation in Israel This is the snapshot taken by Maariv's weekly poll that revealed the weakening of the ultra-Orthodox parties Shas and United Torah Judaism, each of which lost a seat stopping at 6, and the strengthening of the far-right Otzma Yehudit which reaches 9. The Likud party led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu maintains its 18 seats, the ultra-right Religious Zionism is at 6 and Ofer Winter’s Amcha Israel party 4. Movements in Opposition and Arab Parties Within the opposition block, the weakening of Yeshar of Gadi Eisenkot continues, which this week loses another seat, reaching 22, while the Democrats strengthen, increasing by 2 seats, reaching a total of 11. Together and Yisrael Beitenu maintain their results from the previous week, respectively at 13 and 9. The alliance between reservists and the economic party remains at 4 seats, as do the Arab parties (Ra'am and Lista Comune), which remain at 12 seats. The Duel for Leadership According to the Maariv poll, Eisenkot continues to be ahead of Netanyahu as the best candidate to become prime minister, with 47% in his favor and 39% for the challenger. The survey also shows that approximately half of the voters from opposition parties (48%) would prefer that it be announced immediately that the premier candidate of the block will be the leader of the list receiving the most votes. #Israel #Haredi #Maariv #ultra-Orthodox #UnitedTorahJudaism #OtzmaYehudit #Likud #BenjaminNetanyahu #OferWinter’s #AmchaIsrael #GadiEisenkot #Democrats #YisraelBeitenu #ListaComune #Eisenkot #Netanyahuhttps://www.agi.it/scienza/news/2026-09-26/israele-verso-voto-39239560/
