RE: https://social.tchncs.de/@jens_schuette/116973380217929562 This was the only dive with really stunning viz on this trip 😍! The atmosphere was mystic. The silt was at the bottom. The wreck stood out of this fog...truly impressive! In between the two parts of the wrecks lives the king of all lobsters. Unfortunately this time I couldn't find his house 😪! Kind of a niche post, but if any #scuba divers are looking into diving Kaua'i, the famous Tunnels dive is now off-limits to commerical operations. This is a fairly recent change inside Haena State Park; no more permits for any commercial activity. Divers can still dive there but tours and paid guides are not allowed. A local guide just confirmed this to me. I would NOT recommend swimming or diving into the maze of lava tubes without an experienced guide. It's...a complicated system of interconnected tubes, dammit. #scuba #Hawaii #Kauai #diving

Bonus #Mermay drawing! Since I drew my regular mermaid so early in the month, I decided to show what she likes to get up to: pressing herself up against the viewing domes of submersibles used in marine research to say hello. True fact: dozens of undersea expeditions are lost each year due to mermaids compelling scientists to let them into their vessels. Double-plus bonus #Mermay drawing! (Sort of.) Just for fun, I tried rotating my mermaid visitation drawing to match the mermaid's perspective. I also restored the mermaid's reflection in the glass, which I'd previously hidden because I thought it made the centre of the drawing a little too busy. What do people think?
