Toby is a record-breaking cat: he has 28 toes and 30 claws. The touching story, save for a miracle. He was miraculously saved, but his discovery crowned him in the Guinness of World Records. Ten-month-old kitten Toby Michigan is endowed with 28 toes and 30 claws. Toby finally found his forever home with Delaney Henderson, who adopted the polydactyl kitten as a companion for her other rescued cat, also named Connie, in 2025. The latter also presents with polydactyly – possessing extra fingers – although the total number does not reach Toby’s 28. Henderson told Guinness World Record that she was looking for a feline friend for Connie when she came across Toby. Despite no reference to his extraordinary paws being made in the adoption announcement, it was his foster family who reported this peculiarity. “When I first saw his little feet, I couldn't believe my eyes! – Henderson recalled – Having another polydactyl cat, I expected a few ‘thumbs’ extra, but nothing could have prepared me to see Toby’s paws.” And still: “I had the feeling, from the very first moment I met him, that he was destined to be part of my life, and I am so grateful that I gave him a forever home.” Despite being endowed with 28 toes and 30 claws, Toby enjoys perfect health and does not present any physical complications attributable to this anatomical peculiarity. “He is a cat in excellent shape, lively and serene like any other feline,” said Delaney Henderson, emphasizing that the only particular attention required by her beloved animal is constant and meticulous grooming of his nails.
