I haven't been an opponent but I must admit, when you have headless machine of different arch (so no chroot) you try to make connect to LAN and start sshd, managing those links in those directories feels more like shooting in the dark. In that case simple scripts in a dir were easier

Maybe resource takes over the IP of one of the clients?

Of course not. The point of their accounts is to lock you in their ecosystem

I think that is not a dummy account. It still comes with all the bells and whistles. If that's acceptable, then one could just use "create an account" on gmail page

https://github.com/palform/palform/blob/main/README.md#self-hosting It might be a bit too early for someone to having tried it But it does look interesting

Well, in that case administration of password change seems to not be doable on the device

Hmm. So to invalidate all other accesses one would have to reach out to relay admin? Since technically it’s an email server underneath, maybe that feature could be available via mail web ui if the relay had one?

Maybe I’m missing some detail on how DC works but you have to have an account in order to get your messages. Even in Arcane, which is aimed at being more non-technical-friendly, you can see your login and password in the “relays” settings

Simplest idea I would have for that would be to switch off multi-device mode, change the password and add trusted devices again But if they had access to your device, why would they spend time on only Delta, instead of just installing a rootkit? My point being, it’s often said that if an attacker had physical access, the game is already lost

It’s very cool that it’s so easy to have an instance without tinkering

No, that’s new to me. And I’ve been using logseq+synching for quite a while now Do you have versioning turned on?

I guess you might want to ask this question in one of the self-hosting communities (there’s a bunch that are active, so I’m not linking one) But getting back to the topic: jellyfin needs very little I’m running mine on a laptop with 4 threads at 2.6GHz and on 8GB of RAM it was fine with a bunch of other stuff running OwnCast IDK but for personal use I’d expect to also have low requirements Minecraft server That part I’m not sure about. I’d expect it to be a bit more demanding play some steam games I understand you’ll be running those on another computer and only streaming via OwnCast, so that goes back to earlier point

I also thought about running from RAM but I guess the transcription might be needing the RAM too. So that route probably depends on how much RAM there is available

Congrats! Compiling your own kernel is very intimidating at the beginning and one learns a lot after plunging down that rabbit hole After some time it gets pretty straightforward. Just don’t forget to enable the modules for your drive and filesystem (it has been a while, maybe that’s not needed anymore) and the rest you can always fix with another compilation That part where you got stuck even after switching hardware: yikes. I wouldn’t expect that

I guess an SD card might be better. RasPis work from those for years just fine. Just don’t kill the power, power down nicely. SD cards are fragile on that
